In October 2001, as a result of the work of the several area volunteers, the Tunkhannock Business and Professional Association (TBPA) was granted 501 (C)(6) status and a set of by-laws were adopted. At that time what had been known as the "Downtown Merchants Association" opened its doors to all Tunkhannock area businesses, professions, and non-profits. With a mission to work collaboratively to promote the greater Tunkhannock area, TBPA membership grew to include 68 area businesses, professionals, and non-profits in 2006. Today TBPA has nearly 140 members. TBPA is growing!

The Association believes that membership strength and unity bring commerce and community together for the benefit of all area residents, businesses, professions and visitors to the Greater Tunkhannock area.

TBPA operates with a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of elected officers, employs a part time coordinator/consultant, and holds membership meetings several times each year for the purpose of education, information, and networking. These meetings are hosted by different members at their place of business.

Membership in TBPA is open to any business, profession, or non-profit located in - or supportive of - the greater Tunkhannock area.
