The 27th annual Forksville Powwow will be held on Father’s Day weekend, June 17-18, 2017, at the Sullivan County Fairgrounds in Forksville, PA. Gates open at 10am and Grand Entry is scheduled at noon both days (rain or shine). Veterans, and those in active service, are honored during opening ceremonies during a Veterans’ dance. Family members are invited to join in this dance representing their loved ones. On Saturday, the EDN Princess will be honored; Sunday there will be a Father’s Day Dance. There will be a special performance by Barry & Barbara of the folk band Spirit Wing, a several-time Native American Music Awards Finalist. The powwow draws dancers from near and far and features fantastic drum groups as well as Aztec dancers, storytelling, and flute playing. The public will also enjoy a variety of vendors, food, and educational demonstrations. Admission is $8.00, children 12 and under are free. The event is hosted by EDN, Inc., a non-profit organization that promotes cultural education, and is sponsored by the local Kiwanis of Sullivan County. The Sullivan County Fairgrounds are located at 4430 Route 154 Forksville, PA 18616, a short distance from Worlds End State Park in the beautiful Endless Mountains.
