Cabin Country Store
12044 Rte. 706, Stevensville
The Cabin Country Store is a log cabin built in 1972 by a logger, Roy Herman. Tim & Betsy Blaine purchased the cabin on August 20, 2002. With a lot of tender loving care, the cabin was repaired and restored. The wild brambles and briars were cut away from the front porch and windows. The Cabin Country Store opened its doors on November 20, 2002.
The Cabin Country Store started as an antique-gift shop, carrying the usual lines of candles, personal care products, Bearington Bears, Gourmet foods, Green Mountain Coffee, and a variety of home decor items. Within two years, their love of koi and goldfish led to an expansion into fish, water pond supplies and water features. An herb garden was added to the side of the Cabin and yearly plants swaps were begun.
The gift lines were expanded, antiques added and The Cabin Country Store continued to grow. Building on their hobbies, Tim and Betsy added bird feeders, birdhouses, and Wild Bird Seed from a mill downstate. Their latest addition to their family is Molly, a black English lab/retreiver mix they found at True Friends Animal Shelter, which has led to a line of natural dog and cat treats and toys.
2012 is The Cabin's tenth year in business. Many friends have been made and Tim and Betsy are looking forward to the next ten years and the new friends they will meet. Come and "sit a spell" and enjoy The Cabin, its pondless waterfalls, fish ponds, and peaceful surroundings.
