Set in 1981, a withdrawn nine-year-old girl is raised by impoverished parents among many other siblings. She is sent to spend the summer on a farm with a loving married couple, who are distant relatives. The discussion afterwards will also include the 88-page long short story, Foster (2010), by Irish author Claire Keegan upon which the film is based. It is a story of strong emotional depth. Families with teens will enjoy this film and book.
