My Life as a Dog, 1985 Swedish drama/comedy. The 12-year-old Ingemar is separated from his beloved dog and brother and sent to live with his uncle in rural Sweden after his mother becomes terminally ill in 1958-59. The town is full of wonderful and eccentric characters. The actor Anton Glanzelius has been described as a pint-size Jack Nicholson. It became a critical success in the US, a rare feat for a film with subtitles in the 1980’s.
WARNING: There are several sexually suggestive scenes. Discussion led by Mark and Betsy Beaugard.
