The Laporte Enhancement Committee is excited to host the first ever Charlie Moore Day on Friday, August 9th, 2024! Charlie Moore was the 1952 Olympic Champion in the 400m men’s hurdles, but more importantly, he was an American dedicated to improving his community in Laporte, in the United States, and across the world. He carried the Olympic spirit in his heart his whole life! The event starts at 2:00 PM in Cosgrove Park in Laporte. All are invited to come hear readings from Charlie’s biographies, Running with Purpose and One Hurdle at a Time, enjoy snacks, fellowship and try to beat Charlie’s time in a 400m dash! At 3:00 PM, festivities will move to D&D Brew Works for appetizers, social hour, and a watch party of the 400m men’s hurdle finals.
