Try your hand at printmaking under the tutelage of popular Sullivan County art teacher and environmental educator, Gerry Mann. Reduction linocut is a printing process that utilizes various colored inks and a linoleum printing “plate.” It involves cutting/carving and then printing from the same plate multiple times, generally using light to dark inks. The subject of the prints will be the birds of Sullivan County. Participants will be using reference photographs of iconic species to draw or transfer shapes to their plates before carving. All materials will be supplied, and no previous printing experience is necessary.

Gerry taught environmental science before earning his masters degree in printmaking and painting and becoming an art teacher. To inspire you, Gerry will lead an optional morning bird walk on the Thursday morning preceding the Monday class.  Meeting time and location for the walk will be provided prior to class. Rain date is Friday 7/12.
