Historical Society staff person Connie Snedeker will talk about the arrival of the early Irish settlers of our county and the role Dr. Robert Rose played in the success of their efforts to create a homeland for themselves here. Rose possessed thousands of acres of land he wanted to improve, but he found it difficult to convince families to stay in what was then a wilderness of panthers, wolves and unending forest. Many tried and gave up. This presentation will explain how the invincible Irish conquered and successfully farmed these rocky hillsides. (Free event reprised from 2024)

The museum will be open for free tours from 10-1:30.

Research time is available from 10-2 and is free to members and $10 for non-members.
