“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

Hamlet is Shakespeare’s iconic and influential tragedy about Prince Hamlet, who is shaken to his core when he discovers that his father was murdered by his uncle, now the new king. As he wrestles with grief, betrayal, and the burden of revenge, Hamlet spirals into a world of contemplation, moral conflict, and both real and feigned madness. Gamut Theatre’s interpretation highlights the play’s most compelling themes: philosophy, revenge, mortality, madness, and the haunting question of existence itself. This age‑old story continues to intrigue and challenge audiences of all ages, ultimately leaving them with the timeless question, “To be, or not to be?”

Recommended for ages 12 and up, the production is extremely accessible, employing Gamut’s unique educational engagement style of combining Shakespeare’s original text with modern narrations to bridge the most famous scenes from the play together into an easy-to-understand story. This dynamic show is performed by six highly–talented actors, runs 90 minutes, and each performance is followed by a talk-back discussion with the audience.
