Peak: August 12-13

The Perseids meteor shower is one of the most popular meteor showers of the year, known for its bright, fast-moving meteors and frequent shooting stars streaking across the night sky. Occurring each August as Earth passes through debris left behind by Comet Swift–Tuttle, the Perseids can produce dozens of meteors per hour during peak viewing. The shower is best visible after 11 pm.

They are called Perseids since the radiant (the area of the sky where the meteors seem to originate) is located near the prominent constellation of Perseus the hero.

While this is not an organized event, you are welcome to bring a blanket or chair on your own and view the meteor shower at The Summit.

Information about the Lyrids can be found here and here.
