If you were in Montrose, the county seat nestled in the Endless Mountains of Susquehanna County, early in December you undoubtedly experienced the true Christmas spirit. The Christmas in Montrose weekend captured the joy of the holiday season and celebrated a small-town “Hallmark Christmas movie” atmosphere. Traditional and new events for everyone were offered on The Village Green and the businesses and churches. You enjoyed making merry with festive foods and drinks from vendors and restaurants, musical entertainment, contests, and a variety of Christmas shopping opportunities. Demonstrations and displays were an integral part of creating the close-knit community holiday spirit. The weather provided the very best setting with snow gently blanketing the village and crisp winter air.

There was something for all ages to enjoy including many free events such as kids’ crafts, horse-drawn carriage rides, a smore-making station, pictures with Santa, a petting zoo, reindeer, story reading, and free movie showing.  The vast variety of free events is made possible by a host of generous sponsors which include the following: Coterra Energy Inc., Hinds Energy, June and Earle Wootton Fund at the Community Foundation, Williams, Borough of Montrose, Lakeside Cabinet Design, Kerr Orthodontics, Leatherstocking Gas, Montrose Lions Club, Montrose Area Kiwanis, Andre & Sons, Leatherstocking Gas, Peoples Security Bank and Trust, NBT Bank, Progressive Dental, Anthony’s Restaurant, Down to Earth Equipment Rental, PS Bank, The Lily Pad Florist and Gifts, From the Heart, Little Leaf Natural Products, Hometown Finds, Rosemont Inn Bed and Breakfast, Andre & Sons, Inc., Broadline Construction, Century 21, Slanted Art Co-op, Uptown Grill, Bargain Bliss by ADK, and Tiffany’s Quality Cleaning Service

The 5K Race which was held early Saturday morning was a huge success with 653 participants.  The following sponsors supported the event: The Sipe Agency, Earth Armor, Golis Machine, Millers Auto Connection, The Inn Pub, Breichle Law, Town and Country Veterinary Services, PC, Peoples Security Bank and Trust, and Athletico Physical Therapy.

The performance of The Montrose Community Chorale at The Presbyterian Church was the wrap-up event for the holiday weekend on Sunday afternoon.  Many weekly practices brought the talented community members together for this long-time annual concert holiday event.
