Hirayama works as a toilet cleaner for the Tokyo Toilet Project. He seems content with his simple life. He follows a structured everyday life and dedicates his free time to his passion for music and books. Hirayama also has a fondness for trees and photographs them and, for this reason, the director highlights Komorebi, sunlight leaking through trees. More of Hirayama’s past is gradually revealed through a series of unexpected encounters with such people as his lazy co-worker and his girlfriend, his niece and estranged sister and the ex-husband of his favorite restaurateur.
All are welcome to Brain/Food, where discussions of fiction, poetry and films and lectures will take place on Thursday evenings at 7 PM at the DeWire Center unless noted otherwise. Brain/Food events are free, but we hope you will show your support by becoming a member or making a donation.There will be a Potluck supper preceding each evening’s program beginning at 6 PM.
