Touch (2024 R, Icelandic entry to Academy Awards 2025)

Touch is a tale of lost love that spans five decades, revealing a man’s powerful journey to rediscover happiness and profound truths.

Kristófer is a widower living alone in Iceland. His memory is failing. His doctor suggests that he should resolve any unfinished business so he sets out to find Miko, his Japanese girlfriend from 50 years ago. He arrives in London in the midst of pandemic restrictions and finds her father Takahashi’s restaurant, which is now a tattoo parlor. He had worked there after dropping out of the London School of Economics. He is told that Miko and her father suddenly moved back to Japan. Kristófer finds her at her last known address in Japan, and learns why she suddenly left him 50 years ago.
