Join us in celebrating the 85th anniversary of Citizen Kane, the groundbreaking drama that follows the rise and fall of enigmatic newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane. Widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, Citizen Kane revolutionized cinema with its innovative storytelling, striking cinematography, and bold narrative structure. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and consistently ranked at the top of critics’ “greatest films of all time” lists for decades, this landmark masterpiece remains as powerful and influential today as it was in 1941.

Before the July 8th showing of Citizen Kane, John Tindell, Professor of Communication Studies at Northampton Community College, will share with audience members the real‑life clash between Orson Welles and William Randolph Hearst that lies at the core of the film. With that historical context in mind, viewers might find Citizen Kane takes on a different meaning.
