Duration: April 15-29

Peak: April 22-23

One of the oldest recorded meteor showers, the Lyrids return each spring as Earth passes through debris from Comet Thatcher. Known for fast, bright meteors and the occasional fireball, the Lyrids peak overnight April 22–23, 2026. The best viewing is from midnight through dawn, when observers under dark skies may see 10–20 meteors per hour.

While this is not an organized event, you are welcome to bring a blanket or chair on your own and view the meteor shower at The Summit.

Information about the Lyrids can be found here and here.
