Watch as reenactors play out Col. Hartley’s 1778 expedition. Col. Hartley’s Expedition started in Muncy, PA. He and his men marched North along the Lycoming Creek to Canton, PA, and then turned east following Towanda Creek to the Susquehanna River in Towanda before turning north again following the Susquehanna River to the Sayre/Athens area. After battling with Queen Esther’s Seneca warriors, Hartley turned his men south and marched back to Luzerne County. Along this expedition there were reports of several skirmishes along the way but two major battles between the opposing forces, the first at Queen Esther’s flats and the second south of Wyalusing on Indian Hill. Visit the
encampments and see how the soldiers lived and watch the battles as they play out before you. Help us celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
