Come check out the art and meet the artists during the reception for Salon 22–33, a showcase inspired by the historic public “salons” of the 1700s, when artists would gather to exhibit their work for the community in a lively, conversational settings. Carrying that tradition forward, this modern salon brings together whimsical, colorful works by seven NEPA artists, each offering distinct genres, styles, and mediums that harmonize into one vibrant display, featuring abstract and abstract‑realist pieces in acrylic, mixed media, and 3‑D forms. Abstract painting has existed for more than a century, with its first fully non‑representational works emerging between 1906 and 1912 through pioneers like Hilma af Klint and Wassily Kandinsky.
The genre invites viewers to lean into imagination and heightened perception — fitting for an era in which modern science suggests humans may possess between 22 and 33 senses.
See what you didn’t expect to see, feel what you didn’t expect to feel, and enjoy light refreshments as you explore works by Mike Corker, Cloe Newell, Billy Brandenburg, Sarrah Dibble‑Canburn, Amanda Parsons, Jean Maslany, and Matt Howell.
