It’s officially spooky season in the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. As the nights grow longer and the forests go dark, our historic small towns are planning for Halloween fun. Get your fill of tricks and treats with these upcoming events.

Halloween Events for Families

By now, the kids probably can’t wait to wear their costumes and dive into the candy bowl. Luckily, the Endless Mountains will host plenty of family-friendly events leading up to Halloween.

Of course, this time of the year is all about the treats. There’s no shortage of trunk-or-treats throughout the area:

The Dietrich in Tunkhannock is hosting a unique trick-or-treat event at the theater, followed by a free showing of the fantasy film The Spiderwick Chronicles (October 28). Then, join the Tunkhannock Public Library for trick-or-treating at Lazybrook Park in Tunkhannock, where kids can fill their candy buckets along the new Storywalk (October 31).

For even more frightful fun, head to the Tunkhannock Public Library’s Boo-tacular event full of games and crafts (October 24). Then, take the kids to the Dietrich Theater to make Halloween bracelets at the Jewelry for Kids class (October 25). All ages can join at the Meshoppen Holiday Fund’s Halloween Parade (October 27) or the Family Halloween Party at High Knob Inn (October 29). And don’t miss Forest City’s Halloween on Main Street, which includes a dance, a parade, a magic show, pumpkin painting, food, trick-or-treating, and so much more (October 25).

October is also your last chance to head to local pumpkin patches like Brown Hill Farms in Tunkhannock and Whistle Pig Pumpkin Patch in Noxen. Or wander through the magical Pumpkin Walk at Creekside Gardens, which is on display through October 31.

Halloween Events for Adults

If beer is more your style, visit Endless Brewing’s Halloween Hoot (October 28) for local craft brews and scratch-made food. D&D Brew Works in Muncy Valley is also throwing a Halloween party with food, music, prizes, and more (October 28).

The biggest party of them all is the annual Endless Mountains HalloWINEfest at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds in Meshoppen (October 28). The festival features 10 regional wineries, vendors, food, music, and a costume contest. Proceeds benefit a new community playground and pavilion at the fairgrounds.
