Think you have the most Christmas spirit in town? Prove it during the first-ever Tunkhannock Holiday Decorating Contest presented by the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau (EMVB).

The competition is open to residences and businesses in Tunkhannock. It includes five categories: Best Business Display, Best Inflatable Display, Classic Christmas, Griswold Christmas, and Most Creative.

EMVB will create a map so visitors can take a self-guided tour of the participating locations. The public will vote for their favorites, and the winners will receive commemorative prizes (and, of course, bragging rights).

Join the contest by signing up at endlessmountains.org/christmas-sign-up or by calling 570-836-5431. Sign-ups are open now through October 21. Please sign up early so EMVB can design and print all materials before the holidays. Participants should have their decorations ready by December 1. The winners will be announced on December 19.

“We’re excited to see Tunkhannock’s true Christmas spirit shine,” said Jean Ruhf, executive director of EMVB. “I hope the contest will encourage people to explore town, visit our local businesses, and stay for our many holiday events.”

Public voting will be open December 1 through December 18. At the end of voting period, EMVB will randomly draw three participants to win a $50 gift certificate to local businesses. Voting will be available online at endlessmountains.org and paper ballots at select locations.

The decorating contest will complement the Tunkhannock Business and Professional Association’s Christmas in Our Hometown, which will take place December 13 and 14. EMVB will also partner with the Stone Hedge Golf Course to encourage people to visit both the Festival of Lights and downtown Tunkhannock.

If you have questions, please contact EMVB at 570-836-5431 or info@endlessmountains.org.
