The 2nd Annual Sullivan County Arts & Artists Tour will be held on September 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and September 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This self-guided tour will showcase 35 juried local artists displaying, discussing, and selling their work at venues across the county.
This year’s artists will display their original paintings, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry, furniture, wall installations, and photography. There will be six group exhibition sites and nine personal studios on the tour.

The event is organized by the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Sullivan County Council on the Arts. Last year’s inaugural event was so successful that organizers have extended the tour to two days. New for 2026, there will be performances by local musicians, workshops where you can create your own art, and artists demonstrations.
A complete list of artists, locations, and activities can be found in the tour brochure, which is available at sullivancountyarts.com.

In addition to the local art, the tour also highlights the unique multi-cultural history of Sullivan County. The brochure for the tour includes a short history of each site and discusses the impact of coal mining, timbering, railroading and the boom-and-bust cycle of industrialization in the area. Visitors will discover where the Underground Railroad travelled through Sullivan County, how the hard anthracite coal of the county was mined and crushed by 17-story coal breakers invented in the county, why so many of the county names seem French, the surprising view of an onion-domed Orthodox church in the little village of Lopez, and more.

“We believe local art reflects history and culture, and the Sullivan County Arts and Artists Tour invites you to enjoy the unexpected variety in these rural mountains and valleys and consider how the past continues to influence the present,” said Jeanne Sullivan, board member of the Sullivan County Chamber.

The tour brochure was financed in part by a grant from the Endless Mountains Heritage Region Community Conservation Partnerships Program, the Heritage Areas Program Fund, under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
