The Endless Mountains Heritage Region (EMHR) will offer a pair of workshops on the management of archives and historical documents at the Bradford County Historical Society on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Tunkhannock Public Library on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The same material will be covered at each workshop, so please remember to sign up for the date that best fits your schedule. Delivered in partnership with EMHR Board Member Brian Lione / Lione Heritage Consulting, LLC of Montrose, the workshop will cover several topics related to archives management, including archives arrangement and description; the creation of finding aids; selecting and using appropriate preservation storage and housing solutions, and making the archives accessible to researchers and the public. The workshop will be grounded in best standards and practices but also focus on low-cost solutions. Participants will receive handouts of all presentations and lists of references, as well as extensive samples of archival materials for use in their organizations. A light lunch will be served and time will be set aside for participants to network with other heritage organizations in EMHR’s four-county region (Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Wyoming). These workshops are open to people all skill levels.
