Course Details
25k Run/Hike with ~4,700 feet elevation gain
This is not a beginner trail course. There will be four different ascents of Miller Mountain with over 1,000 feet elevation gain each. It will be one of the most difficult sub-ultra trail runs in Pennsylvania and also be one with the most beautiful scenery. The race starts with a short section on a dirt road for just under a half mile before reaching the first of four climbs. You will be welcomed to the first climb with a steep start, a runnable middle, and then finish off the top with another steep push. After enjoying some views looking over the Susquehanna River you descend into private property at Bennie’s Nursery and Tree Farm. The first of four aid stations will be at Bennie’s. It’s a joy to climb back up Miller through the Christmas trees on the Barziloski farm. After ascending past the summit pond you will get to enjoy a fun, flowing downhill to the next aid station. Just two more climbs left! Following a creek and old logging roads up a ravine, the third climb leads to two more amazing views. The first view will be host to the third aid station, looking northwest into a beautiful farming valley. Shortly after runners/hikers get to enjoy a great view of the town of Tunkhannock before descending steep, rocky, wet trails. The fourth and final climb will have some STEEP sections! Something about saving the best for last!? After grinding out the final climb participants can fly down another fast, flowing descent! Welcome to the finish line! Enjoy the after party and start the recovery!
5 mile with ~2,000 feet elevation gain
This course will highlight some of the best views Miller Mountain has to offer in a shorter format for those who love the short distance or want to test out the mountain before tackling the full 25k. Although the race is 5 miles, its a MIGHTY 5 miles! Runners will start with a short section on a dirt road before beginning their trek up Miller Mountain to enjoy the amazing views. Expect a steep, tough couple mile climb that will be worth it once participants reach the many vistas. The climbs are breathtaking and so are the views. There will be an aid station at the vista overlooking Tunkhannock to replenish your energy for the descent. Runners will enjoy a steep, rocky, wet downhill on their way back down the mountain. Welcome to the finish, 5 milers! Enjoy the party!
