Sentiment in Sediment is a retrospective that deals with processing memory and emotions through the means of papermaking. Brielle’s creative practice is intuitive, in which she mixes pigmented paper pulp and allow its sediments to settle into a sheet of paper, laying the groundwork for a memory to be recorded. This time spent compacting paper fibers through repetitive agitation in water is dedicated to reminiscence, construal, and anticipation for what is yet to come.

Brielle is a recent graduate of SUNY New Paltz where she earned a BFA with a concentration in printmaking. Her work spans across multiple disciplines, including printmaking, papermaking, drawing, and painting. Brielle is inspired by nature, fungi, nostalgia, and
interpersonal relationships. Her current practice explores psychoanalysis in art, or how art is utilized as a means of reflection and processing emotions.

Stop by Slanted Art, Friday, February 16 to meet this exceptional artist and see her most recent artworks. Light fare provided. Exhibit runs through March 11th.
