It’s officially spooky season in the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. As the nights grow longer and the forests go dark, our historic small towns are planning for Halloween fun. Get your fill of tricks and treats with these upcoming events.

Halloween Events for Families

By now, the kids probably can’t wait to wear their costumes and dive into the candy bowl. Luckily, the Endless Mountains will host plenty of family-friendly events leading up to Halloween:

On October 26, keep your eyes peeled for witches in Tunkhannock! The Susquehanna River Witch Walk returns for their tenth year with dances all around town, fun costumes, a kid-friendly live pumpkin patch, and an all-ages dance party.

October is also your last chance to head to local pumpkin patches like Brown Hill Farms in Tunkhannock and Whistle Pig Pumpkin Patch in Noxen. Or wander through the magical Pumpkin Walk at Creekside Gardens, which is on display throughout the month. Don’t miss their Evening in the Gardens and Pumpkin Carving Workshop for special nighttime hours (October 25).

Halloween Events for Adults

The kids don’t get to have all the fun! Dress your best and head to Grovedale Winery’s Spooky Sips Adult Trick-or-Treating (October 26). Collect goodies around the historic property and answer trivia questions for extra prizes. D&D Brew Works in Muncy Valley will also host their 8th Annual Halloween Party with music from AM Flashback/DJ Don, a tap takeover with New Trail Brewing, and more. And at the Sonestown Country Inn, don’t miss the Halloween Bash with a costume contest and live music from the Lance Thomas Band (October 26).

For a frighteningly good time, head to the Endless Mountains HalloWINEfest at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds in Meshoppen (October 26). The festival features regional wineries, vendors, food, music, and a costume contest. Proceeds benefit a new community playground and pavilion at the fairgrounds.

They’ll host free showings of  thirteen Halloween films, from classic horror movies to family favorites. The Dietrich will also present the silent film Nosferatu synced to Radiohead for an immersive musical experience (October 16 & 20).

The Rialto Theatre in Canton welcomes author Joseph Smith to discuss his book Hitchcock’s Psycho: A Dive Into Madness (October 24). After the presentation and book signing, stick around for the screening of the 1960 film.
