The North Branch Art Trail presents the second annual Wyoming County Arts & Artists Tour. The event begins on Friday, May 3 and continues through Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
During the self-guided tour, 55 local artists will display their works at 29 venues across the county. Featured mediums include oil paintings, pottery, stained glass, sculpture, photography, books, and more.
“Last year’s event was so well received by the local artists who chose to participate, and then by the public during tour weekend, that planning this year’s second-annual event was a no brainer,” said Dan Tompkins, director of the North Branch Art Trail and creator of the Arts & Artists Tour.
Tour stops include art studios and galleries, cultural venues, local shops, historic sites, and more. Participants will have the chance to explore small towns like Laceyville, Meshoppen, Tunkhannock, Nicholson, and Factoryville, as well as the scenic backroads along the way.
A tour booklet features a full list of participating artists and tour stops, as well as maps, a dining guide, and other useful information. Booklets will be available at all participating venues the week before the event and on the event weekend.
“We are humbled by the support we have received from the Wyoming County Commissioners and the courthouse staff in general,” said Tompkins. “Last year, we held our group exhibit (featuring participating artists) at the Courthouse Art Gallery. This year, due to the growth of the event, we have moved the tour’s group exhibit to the larger galleries at the Dietrich Theater. And we are proudly introducing a ‘Student Art Show’ at the courthouse coordinated by the local school district’s four art teachers. It is our intent that this will be a regular feature of the Arts & Artists Tour weekend for years to come.”
The group exhibit at the Dietrich will remain on display now through May 28 with a “Meet the Artists” reception on April 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Student Art Show will be on display at the courthouse from April 18 through June 4 with a reception on April 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
