Are you interested in history? Are you looking for something fun and different to do? Well, we have the answer for you!
“Take a Bite Out of Christmas” presents three tours for adults only on Friday evening, December 5th. The tours will take you on adventures where you will enjoy Christmas lights all lit up for the Holiday Light Decorating Contest while learning some of the fascinating history of Montrose.
“The Snowflake Express” is sold out, so information for that tour is not included.
If you choose the “History, Mystery Tour,” which is a strolling tour, your group will begin the evening of mystery at the Susquehanna County Historical Society Museum. Step back in time and dress as a Montrose citizen of the past while helping to solve the question: “Who caused the fire that destroyed the Searle Hotel?” The Endless Mountains Theatre Company (EMTC) will present a lively, four-act interactive mystery performance. Even if you’ve joined us before, you’ll want to return—this year’s story has been updated with new twists! As you explore the avenue, you’ll hear fascinating local stories, uncover clues, and enjoy a delicious dinner at the Busy Bee Café in the historic Tannery Place. The evening concludes at The Relic, where drinks and dessert will be served. Come to the Information Booth on the Village Green with your tickets. The tour begins at 5:00 p.m. but please arrive at least 15 minutes early. Tickets for this tour are $50.00. Tickets are available here.
The Silver Bells Church Tour begins at 4:00 p.m. from the Montrose Bible Conference so plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early. There will be a light snack before you leave on your bus tour of Montrose churches. Montrose was settled in the early 1800s by settlers from New England who brought with them strong attachments for worship. A village slowly emerged from the wildness with merchant shops, taverns, hotels, public buildings, and churches. One of the many stops will be at the AME Zion Church. While staying on the bus, the group will hear the history of this amazing little church that many don’t even know exists! During the stop at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church soup and sandwiches will be served. The evening ends with a tour of Dr. Reuben Archer Torrey’s house. Like the other two tours participants of the “Silver Bells Church Tour” are welcome at the Relic for dessert. Tickets for this tour are $40.00. To purchase tickets, click here.
