Many visitors love the Endless Mountains for our stunning vistas and beautiful trails. But when Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate, sometimes it’s best to turn to the great indoors. Regardless of rain or snow, cold snaps or heat waves, you can still stay busy and have fun with these indoor things to do.

 

Show Off Your Cornhole Skills

Cornhole isn’t just for summer BBQs! You can play all year-round at Flying Bags Cornhole in Tunkhannock. Located at the Werks Plaza on Route 6, their indoor facility provides playing courts for rent. They also host organized leagues and tournaments.

 

Spend a Day at the Movies

Open 365 days a year, the Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock is the perfect place to sit back and catch the latest movies. Visit during one of their quarterly film festivals, and you can even see the best foreign and independent films. They also host art classes, cultural programming, and community events for children and adults

 

Learn the Art of Broommaking

At Meckley Brooms in Lopez, broommaking has been in the family for six generations. Located just up the road from Ricketts Glen State Park, this shop not only sells handcrafted brooms, but also offers “Make and Take” classes where you can try it out for yourself. Please call ahead to confirm availability and to book a private group.

 

Relax at a Winery or Brewery

Visit a Historical Society

Wyoming County Historical Society in Tunkhannock, PA

The Sullivan County, Susquehanna County, and Wyoming County Historical Societies are treasure troves of information. Each location has its own museum showcasing our region’s heritage. They also have extensive genealogical information. Please note, some locations may have limited or seasonal hours.

 

Get Crafty

The Local Emporium Co. in Tunkhannock is known for its handmade gifts and artwork, but this shop also hosts a variety of crafting workshops each month. From learning to pour your own candle to creating cute decorations for your home, they offer fun classes for every interest. Visit their Facebook page for the latest event schedule.

 

Practice at the Indoor Shooting Range

Do some target practice at the 10-lane indoor shooting range at Burke’s Gun Shop in Meshoppen. You can use the range by the hour, and firearm rentals are available. They also regularly offer classes.

 

Admire an Art Gallery

Bear Valley Gallery in Dushore, PA

Discover artwork from near and far at our art galleries. The Kitson Gallery in Tunkhannock showcases a variety of local and regional artists. At Bear Valley Gallery near Dushore, you’ll find oil and acrylic paintings by Frank and Linda Rump. Many of their pieces are inspired by Pennsylvania’s scenery and wildlife.

 

Visit a Museum
