Christy Mathewson Park

The legacy of Factoryville native and legendary pitcher Christy Mathewson lives on at this community park in Factoryville. Mathewson was born in Factoryville in 1880 and attended Keystone Academy (now Keystone College). He went on to play professional baseball for the New York Giants and the Cincinnati Reds, ultimately becoming one of the first inductees to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Today, a bronze memorial statue of Mathewson stands proudly beside the park’s baseball fields. The park also includes a walking trail, basketball courts, pickleball court, and picnic pavilion. In December, it hosts the Factoryville Christmas Market

Christy Mathewson Park is located behind the Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center. Park in the school parking lot and walk across pedestrian bridge to access the park.
