North Branch Trout Derby Association

The North Branch Trout Derby Association (NBTDA) is a nonprofit organization that promotes outdoor recreation for youth, veterans, and people with special needs.

In May 2023, their annual derby provided a fishing experience for over 300 children, with over 1,300 people in attendance. The association stocked the pond with 1,000 fish for the day of the event with fish ranging in size from 11 to 24 inches. The event includes children’s prizes, giveaways, and raffles. Other activities include an obstacle course, mountain man exhibit, quality deer and bear management, a dunk tank, face painting, a basket raffle, and visits from the Wyoming County Dairy Princess.

A Special Needs and Veterans Fishing Day is held on the Sunday following the derby. NBTDA members attend to assist guests. They also provide lunch free of charge for the anglers and their families.

October is NBTDA’s Youth Pheasant Hunt. This popular event is open to boys and girls between 12-16 years old. They must have successfully completed the hunter safety course. A parent or guardian must accompany their child during the hunt. A trained hunting dog and handler accompanies each group of two hunters.
